Ephesus Commemorates 100th Anniversary

On January 6, 2024, the Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist church will begin a year-long commemoration of its 100th Anniversary with a Prayer and Consecration Service. The Divine Worship speaker will be Dr. Ted Wilson, President of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Other special guests will include Dr. Pierre Omeler, President of the Atlantic Union of Seventh-day Adventists, and Dr. Abraham Jules, President of the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Music will be provided by the Ephesus Ensemble with guest conductor, Dr. Jason Ferdinand, former director of the Aeolians of Oakwood University. There will be a special afternoon program entitled, “Conversations with the Presidents”, which will be hosted by our former Elder, Pastor Crystal E. Ward, Executive Pastor, Spencerville Seventh-day Adventist Church, Spencerville, MD.

Established in 1924, the Ephesus has been a beacon of hope for generations and a champion for change and social justice in Harlem and the greater New York City area. With strong community involvement and a voice for change, the church has been on the frontline in the fight for fair housing, access to healthcare, and advocacy for mental health and wellness. Former pastors and officers of the church have gone on to leadership in academia, local Adventist conferences, and the world church. Its doors have welcomed members from around the globe and around the corner since they were opened and Ephesus has become a melting pot of believers working together to finish the work of the Lord.

Over the course of the year, the church will mark its centennial with special invited guest speakers, alumni tributes, musical concerts, an evangelism series, a youth church reunion and banquet, and a special year-end candlelight communion. Plan now to join us throughout the year as we celebrate our Ebenezer - Hither to, hath the Lord brought us.
